The nccr – on the move gives issues of equality and non-discrimination high priority and adopts measures to promote equal opportunity and awareness of these issues among its collaborators. It underlines the importance of the advancement of women in academia and encourages the work of younger female researchers with a peer-mentoring project. Additional training will support them in meeting academic as well as personal challenges in science and beyond. Moreover, the nccr – on the move stresses the need for flexible working arrangements to cater for family needs and to promote work-life balance.
The Training and Gender Equality Officer has veto power on appointments. He will monitor the gender composition of the NCCR and oversee actions to endorse the advancement of women and young researchers. Furthermore, he will assist recruiting project officers and researchers already employed in designing suitable work schedules.
