{"id":3681,"date":"2019-08-19T16:26:01","date_gmt":"2019-08-19T14:26:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indicators.nccr-onthemove.ch\/?p=3681"},"modified":"2025-09-05T16:36:56","modified_gmt":"2025-09-05T14:36:56","slug":"are-migrants-satisfied-with-their-decision-to-move-to-switzerland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nccr-onthemove.ch\/indicators\/are-migrants-satisfied-with-their-decision-to-move-to-switzerland\/","title":{"rendered":"Are migrants satisfied with their decision to move to Switzerland?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Overall, the respondents in the Migration-Mobility Survey expressed <strong>satisfa<\/strong><strong>ction<\/strong><strong> or h<\/strong><strong>igh<\/strong><strong> satisfa<\/strong><strong>ction<\/strong><strong> with<\/strong><strong> their decision to migrate, as<\/strong><strong> well as<\/strong><strong> with their social, personal and family relationships<\/strong>\u00a0at the time of the survey.<\/p>\n<p>A significant majority of the participants (81%) reported a high level of satisfaction with their social relationships, with\u00a0<strong>30%<\/strong><strong> even stating complete satisfaction<\/strong>\u00a0(rating 10 on the scale, the maximum). Although there is limited variation among nationalities, migrants from Poland, Spain as well as North America displayed a slightly lower level of satisfaction compared to migrants from non-European or\u00a0German-speaking countries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Approximately 5<\/strong><strong>0% of the survey sample expressed complete satisfaction with their decision to migrate<span style=\"font-weight: normal !msorm;\">, <\/span>while only 1% reported being not at all satisfied<\/strong>. Overall, 81% of the respondents were very satisfied with their decision (rating between 8 and 10 on the scale). Similarly, there was minimal variation observed across different groups based on education levels and motives for migrating.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"https:\/\/nccr-onthemove.ch\/indicators\/how-many-migrants-leave-switzerland-over-time\/\" href=\"https:\/\/nccr-onthemove.ch\/indicators\/how-many-migrants-leave-switzerland-over-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">How many migrants leave Switzerland over time?<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2013<\/p>\n<p><strong>Source: <\/strong>Migration-Mobility Survey 2024, nccr \u2013 on the move<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note on methodology: <\/strong>These figures are taken from the Migration-Mobility Survey, conducted in the fall of 2024 on a population of persons born abroad and with foreign citizenship who have moved to Switzerland in the last 18 years. To be included in the sample population, respondents had to be between 24 and 64 years of age at the time of the survey, and at least 18 years of age on their arrival in Switzerland. 6,971 people replied to the full questionnaire, either online or by telephone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The question asked:<\/strong> On a scale from 0 (not at all satisfied) to 10 (completely satisfied) can you indicate your degree of satisfaction for each of the following points?<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 With your personal, social and family relationships<br \/>\n\u2013 With your decision to move to Switzerland<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note: <\/strong>The \u201ccountry of origin\u201d is based on the \u201cofficial\u201d nationality attributed in the strata of the Federal Statistical Office of Switzerland, and not on the respondents\u2019 self-declared nationality or country of origin.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Terms of use<\/strong>: The Migration-Mobility Indicators are made available free of charge for non-commercial use.
