Data Management
Open Science
When collecting data and making publications accessible to the public, the nccr – on the move is committed to international standards as well as the requirements from our funding body, the Swiss National Science Foundation. This means that the research conducted with public funding must be carefully curated and documented, and made available to the scientific community and the public as much as possible, and free of charge.
So far, the research conducted in the NCCR has resulted in over 600 publications on migration and mobility, based on public statistics or data collected in the framework of our projects or in collaboration with external partners. The nccr – on the move is actively disseminating these results, whether datasets or publications, on a wide network of open platforms that promote transparency, availability and open archival standards to make sure that our research will be available in the long term.
Several additional measures are taken by the NCCR Network Office and researchers before, during and after the data collection and publishing to make sure that rules of ethics and intellectual property are respected, that files are securely accessed and stored, and that all information includes the appropriate documentation. In addition, an emphasis lies on visualizing the research findings of the NCCR projects to facilitate the exploration of such complex data.
