PostDoc Training

The community of PostDocs is an integral and important part of the nccr – on the move. PostDocs benefit from external and internal training options with an impact on their networking opportunities and career planning. PostDocs are welcome to participate in training sessions of the doctoral program, in particular those that contribute to enhance the interdisciplinarity and internationality of their profiles. At the same time, the nccr – on the move makes a sustained effort to address the concerns which are most specifically related to the postdoctoral phase and informs and advises the PostDocs on the external and internal available training and networking options.

PostDocs benefit further from writing and publication training as well as workshops on research proposals, fundraising, or professional development within and outside academia.

The NCCR also wants to empower PostDocs to train some of the academic skills that they may need most in their career to more senior positions, namely teaching and supervising. PostDocs at the nccr – on the move can enter into mentoring agreements with doctoral students. On the one hand doctoral students can benefit from mentoring in various ways, for instance, to fill some gaps in literature and methodological skills. On the other hand PostDocs gain experience in supervision and learn more about other research projects. The mentoring scheme strengthens the feedback culture of the NCCR. Adequate training in mentoring skills is offered within our network.
