Media Workshops

Fostering Informed Dialogue and Reporting

The Migration Media Workshops, a joint initiative by nccr – on the move and Comptoir des médias / Vivre ensemble, serve as a dynamic platform facilitating constructive exchanges and knowledge-sharing among media practitioners, scientific researchers, and industry experts. These workshops have a clear mission: to enhance the accuracy of information, combat biases through factual insights and personal narratives, and enhance the expertise of media professionals within Switzerland on migration-related issues.

Our primary goal is to empower non-specialist journalists currently in the French-speaking region of Switzerland who regularly engage with migration-related topics. By connecting them with field experts, these workshops offer a unique opportunity for journalists to seek expert perspectives, gather accurate information, and address their queries pertaining to migration issues. This collaborative environment seeks to elevate the quality and depth of media coverage on migration matters, ultimately fostering a more informed and nuanced public discourse.

Key Features:

  • Collaborative Platform: The workshops bring together media professionals, academic researchers, and industry specialists, promoting cross-disciplinary discussions and networking.
  • Factual Engagement: By presenting reliable data, testimonials, and evidence-based insights, the workshops empower journalists to counter misinformation and promote accurate reporting.
  • Expert Interaction: Non-specialist journalists gain direct access to experts in the migration field, enabling them to clarify doubts, seek guidance, and enrich their understanding.
  • Knowledge Reinforcement: The workshops focus on enhancing the skill set of journalists, equipping them with the tools needed to navigate complex migration issues effectively.

In sum, we seek to bridge the gap between media, academia, and industry, contributing to a more informed and unbiased portrayal of migration-related topics. By fostering collaboration and strengthening the expertise of media practitioners, these workshops play a crucial role in shaping a well-rounded public discourse.
