Former Knowledge Transfer Officer of the NCCR

Dina Bader was the Knowledge Transfer Officer of the NCCR On the Move. She holds a PhD in social sciences from the University of Lausanne. Her PhD titled: “Gender, Race, and Nation. Femonationalism and the Problematisation of Female Circumcision and Genital Cosmetic Surgery in the Swiss Public Sphere, 1983-2015” was awarded the 2019 Faculty Prize “Gender – Equality between women and men” by her university. Previously, she was a Postdoctoral Visiting Scholar (Swiss National Science Foundation) in the department of sociology at New York University (2019-2021), a Senior Research Fellow at the Swiss Forum for Migration and Population Studies of the University of Neuchâtel (2011-2019) and at the Swiss Centre of Expertise in Human Rights (2011-2015), as well as a Teaching Assistant at the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Lausanne (2013-2016). Her research interests include migration, gender, racism, and nationalism. Her publications have appeared in such journals as Nations & Nationalism, Social Movement Studies, Feminist Media Studies, Swiss Journal of Sociology, and Droit et Cultures.
