Doctoral student
Carol Pierre holds a BA in History and Anthropology and an MA in History from Goldsmiths, University of London. Her specialisms include 20th century social and protest movements, British colonialism, multi-culturalism, identity politics and community organising. Carol has an interdisciplinary research practice relying on the humanities generally as well as her professional experience in community empowerment to inform her work. Oral history is a key part of her practice. Carol was a Community Outreach Officer at Goldsmiths University and a Research Fellow in the Diversity and Interest Group at Greenwich University. Most recently she worked as a Programme Manager for a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion organisation, collating quantitative and qualitative research and designing regionally specific training. Carol is passionate about social inclusion, accessibility and facilitating institutional change. Working at Tate as an Assistant Curator sparked her interest in using art as a tool for social change, other interests include: Nationalism, narratives, borders, decolonial and feminist theory.
