Migration-Mobility Survey 2022

Diverse Gender Dynamics in a Youthful Population Sample

In 2022, the Migration-Mobility Survey (MMS) involved 7,206 individuals of foreign origin, with a gender distribution of 49% male and 51% female. The gender composition of the surveyed group varies according to region of origin. For instance, South Americans mostly consisted of females,  making up 59% of the participants. On the other hand, the majority of the individuals from African countries are male, comprising 57% of the sample. These differences can be explained by reasons for migration, which can be professional, family, or other factors, and may affect men and women differently.

The survey population is relatively young with 64.5% falling within the age range of 24 to 44. Only 11.3% of the population were aged 55 or older. Women slightly outnumber men up to the age of 44, after which the trend reverses. Between the ages of 55 and 66, there are three men for every two women.
