Zian

Former Associated PostDoc

Yasmina Zian is a former postdoctoral researcher at the Swiss Forum for Migration and Population Studies (SFM) at the University of Neuchâtel. She holds a PhD in history (Technische Universität Berlin – Université Libre de Bruxelles). Specialised in intergroup relations with an intersectional approach, she worked for her thesis on antisemitism in Belgium and the criminalisation of foreigners by police institutions (1880-1930). In 2019-2020, she was in charge at the Royal Academy of Belgium of writing the report commissioned by Culture Minister on the return of cultural heritage. Currently, in the framework of the nccr axis “Mobility in Welfare States”, she is analysing the links between expulsions of foreigners and Welfare State from 1919 to 1960.
