Profession and family, the two main factors behind immigration

Immigration to Switzerland is mainly explained by professional reasons, as indicated by more than half of the respondents. However, these reasons are much more frequent among men (67%) than among women (34%). The second reason is family, mainly joining a partner. Women mention this reason more frequently than men (35% against 15%). Gaining new experiences and lifestyle migration are also among the reasons frequently stated. On the other hand, survey participants only rarely report political, tax and health reasons.
